Thunda N Mimosas: This One’s for The Girls

Friday, March 3, 2023 | 6:30 P.M.

Steinman Hall | Ware Center

FREE

“This One’s For the Girls” is a Poetry showcase made up of 6 powerhouse women-identifying poets that local writer Thunda Khatt met over the last two years as a traveling performer. The showcase includes J Rose from Brooklyn, NY; A Glowing Poet from Baltimore, MD; Baby The Poet of Bethlehem, PA, Lady Syren and Mary Mance both from Philly; and opening the show is Lancaster’s own Aniah Heaven.

Refreshments will be provided by The 2 Board Girls. We’re kicking off Women’s History Month the right way with all women entertainers, vendors, and crew. Remember, anything he can do, we can do better!

Thunda Khatt is a Writer and Spoken Word Poet from Baltimore MD based out of Lancaster PA. She’s been word-bending for as long as she’s been able to hold a pen but has only referred to herself as a poet since taking a creative writing class during her senior year of high school. She credits the teacher of that class with igniting her pen after introducing her to Russel Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam. Through her poetry, Thunda Khatt tells the stories of the unheard. She lifts her voice to amplify those before her that could not speak and encourages those after her never to forget the power of their voice.

The Ripple Effect Presents: A Seat at the Table, a live women's panel featuring a guided discussion hosted by Tabby Benitez.

Ladies and no gentlemen, we are excited to announce The Ripple Effect Presents: A Seat at the Table, our first ever Women’s event and panel.

The Ripple Effect has become much bigger than music festivals.. we are a community for the creatives. A majority of the people who work on our team are women. As creatives we have all been in a place where we didn’t know what our next move was, where we were headed and who we need to speak to to get there, but there is often a societal narrative where women tend to see one another as a competitor over a collaborator.

You are going to listen and learn from the incredible and inspiring women on the panel - who are heavy hitters within this industry and put in the work to get where they are, but still navigating and learning daily. These women are mentors, leaders, and are 100% bad ass to say the least. We want our audience to really take this opportunity to connect with like-minded women in this safe space we are curating. Our goal for this event is to have the women panelist and audience leave feeling more inspired than they came and for us to feel more connected in knowing that although we don't speak everyday, we all know another woman is out there rooting for us to succeed, as we are them.

A Seat at the Table will feature 6 panelists:

  • Ivy Unleashed, Power 96 Radio Personality

  • Cidnee Gray, Model & Comedian

  • Lauren Honey, Entrepreneur

  • Jessica Morale, Singer, Songwriter & Producer

  • Diana Fecu, Advertising & Public Relations

  • Kim Donovan, Realtor, Podcast Host & Artist Manager

We look forward to seeing all of our ladies come out, connect, and come together.

Doors Open: 6:00pm

Live Panel: 6:30pm-8:00pm

Open to Public: 8:00pm-thru the night

This panel is being held for the women, by women!

Men, you are welcome to join once open to the public starting at 8pm after the panel. We appreciate your support!

*Tickets are $20, which include access to the panel, mixer, a t-shirt and booklet* (T-shirts and booklets will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the event)

The Ripple Effect is a creative community and production company that specializes in Music Festivals for independent artists. As creatives ourselves, any event or platform we create is to help spotlight and highlight the locals and independents. Traveling up and down the east coast, The Ripple Effect has made its presence in South Florida as well as Pennsylvania since being established in 2017. Every event is a brand new experience: new creatives, new venues, and new audiences. We strive to provide a platform that up and coming creatives we introduce feel they are not just a PART of the event, but they ARE the event. The Ripple Effect is different through the way we curate our shows, the team that backs it and how we provide an experience that no audience member nor creative can forget. We are proud to offer a supportive environment for creatives, so they can push their brand and receive recognition they desire and deserve.
